Be careful to learn more about the distribution of bargaining lists as we approach the expiry of existing collective agreements. As a Catholic school trustee, the YCDSB respects collective bargaining and hopes that a freely negotiated agreement will be reached by Sunday. Although we are not involved in centralized negotiations, we are confident that the parties involved will work hard to reach an agreement. The collective agreements for the three YCDSB union partners expired on August 31, 2019. On 8 April 2020, the OECD announced that its members had ratified the agreement under the essential conditions of a new treaty. The Ontario Public School Boards Association (OPSBA) and the Ontario government have reached a preliminary agreement with the Federation of Secondary Education Teachers (OSSTF) at centralized bargaining tables for casual teachers and teachers. OSSTF indicated that the new treaty would be submitted for ratification in May. We understand that a work stoppage can be a concern for students, parents and school communities, and we will ensure that all parties involved are kept informed throughout the process. As a Catholic school trustee, the YCDSB respects collective bargaining and hopes that a freely negotiated agreement will be reached soon.

A preliminary agreement has been reached with CUPE for a new contract and we hope that a new contract can be negotiated with OSSTF and all other school management groups. The York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) and CUPE Local 2331 have reached an interim agreement. OSSTF has informed OPSBA and the Ontario government that they are requesting a non-board report for OSSTF Education Workers. This means that OSSTF Education Workers will be in a legal strike position 17 days after the No-Board report is issued if there is no agreement on a new contract. In the spring of 2017, a two-year extension agreement was ratified by the central parties and, in accordance with the OSSTF Constitution, ratification of accession was necessary. With ratification, the extension agreement has successfully stagnated, resulting in essential conditions for the 2017-2019 school years. The renewal contract included the Employee Life and Health Trust (ELHT). OSSTF ELHT is called OSSTFBenefits. The York Catholic District School Board is very pleased that the provincial and cupE bargaining teams have negotiated a new collective agreement.
