The University of California is working hard to establish industrial relations and negotiate fair agreements with the 15 unions representing more than 77,000 employees. The university is committed to providing some of the most attractive compensation, benefits and opportunities to make it an employer of choice. Depending on the title code of a position, employees are either covered by the policy (not only by a bargaining unit (union), or by a Union. Each Union has a collective agreement with the university that governs the conditions of employment of the workers represented. The Officer Personnel Policy (PPSM) is a system-wide policy, published by the Office of the President. The KKSM applies to all employees whose positions are not otherwise governed by a collective agreement. UCLA has adopted local procedures, which are published by the Offices of the Clerk and the Attorney General`s Office and apply to all units under UCLA jurisdiction. The University of California, Berkeley currently has 16 different trading units on campus. Each bargaining unit has a separate contract with a union representing all workers covered by that unit. For more information on trading unit contacts, please see the contract preview and contacts in the General Information section. For more information on a particular bargaining unit`s contract and its provisions, see the left-hand links. UC Berkeley`s current bargaining units are listed in alphabetical order. The pensions of unionized workers are defined as part of collective bargaining.

The UC has entered into agreements with several unions to accept the retirement choice program, as outlined by the regents. Uc will negotiate in good faith with other unions. Pending the completion of the bargaining process, members of other unions are covered by the provisions of their existing retirement employment contracts. Details can be found in your collective agreement and in the corresponding old age pension documents. Below are details of the ongoing negotiations and existing employment contracts with each bargaining unit. Select your trading unit below for more information. If you are unsure which contract applies, please read the title code search on the “Pay Tables” website. You can also check the titles that are covered by each contract by clicking on the title hyperlink. .
